On the A-side, you’ll find a raw and fascinating early version of The Beach Boys’ classic “Surfin’ Safari”.

This is not the familiar Capitol hit recording, but an earlier pre-Capitol performance, originally discovered on an extremely rare German pressing. Featuring a different mix, a rougher sound and all the youthful energy of the group’s earliest days, it offers a glimpse of The Beach Boys just before they became international stars.

Flip it over for The Vistas’ “Tiki Twist” — a frantic, hip-shaking surf instrumental packed with twanging guitar, tropical atmosphere and dance-floor action. The perfect soundtrack for a summer party, a wild record hop or a late-night session beside the turntable.
